What is Reiki?
Reiki comes from the Japanese word 'Rei,' meaning universal and 'Ki,' meaning life force energy, which is also called qi or chi, which is referred to as the energy that surrounds us.
Through Reiki, we are able to address the needs of the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. Since Reiki brings all our energies into balance, it has been proven to have a positive effect on all forms of illness.

How to prepare for a Reiki session?
To get the most out of the session, you need to come with an intention. Some intentions could include providing relief after an emotional event, such as a shift in relationships, a new job, or a new living situation. Your intention could also be centered on providing relief to a physical ailments, or maybe you just need help finishing up your latest creative project.
It's best if you wear comfortable clothing and turn your phone off or to silent to avoid any distractions.
For distant, not in person sessions, ensure you have a quiet spot where you will be free from distraction. You might consider preparing your space as well with some comfort and healing producing items, such as blankets, candles, essential oils, or crystals and stones.
How will I react?
It's common to feel relaxed and a deep sense of well being. Since Reiki helps you to relax in the deepest way possible, you may fall asleep, which is considered a good thing. As the energy works through the body, you may notice parts of your body feeling hot or cold, or even tingly. There is also the possibility that you will have visions, relive memories, or even see colors as the healing continues to work.
It is common for emotional blockages to be naturally released and often those emotions will arise again at a later time. Allowing yourself the time to sit with these moments will help you progress in the healing cycle.
There isn't one reaction that is better than the other. Each one is unique and is intended to heal you in a way that promotes the highest and greatest good.
What should I do after a session?
Relax and self care.
Drink water, eat clean and nourishing meals, journal, meditate, or go for a walk. Do whatever it is that you consider self care until the body completes the cleansing cycle.
Allow yourself some nonjudgmental time for any remaining blockages to work their way out of your energy.
Do I need more than one session?
Some will see results immediately. It might take others multiple sessions to fully address your traumas and emotional or chronic issues.
There are no guaranteed results. You must continue to work on self care and a mindful lifestyle outside of your Reiki sessions. You must commit to all aspects of your healing journey.
Reiki and your Chakras.
One of the most effective ways to relieve the symptoms of blocked Chakras, the main energy centers of the body that line up through the spine, is through the powerful practice of Reiki, a holistic modality that addresses energetic imbalances in the body.
By placing the hands over the corresponding seven major chakra centers that are experiencing blockages, these centers can be re-balanced leading to better health.
During this ancient Japanese technique, the Reiki practitioner channels life force energy through his or her hands onto another person, the recipient. By gently placing their hands on each chakra home, the practitioner can identify where blockages live and how to open them so that Qi, or life force energy, can start to flow through the recipient's body freely.
When Reiki is targeted to the seven Chakras, it can be incredibly valuable for easing physical pain that is not the result of an injury. (That's not to say it's a cure-all, though. Healing doesn't happen overnight.)

*Reiki is a simple, gentle, hands-on energy technique that is used for stress reduction and relaxation. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions nor do they prescribe or perform medical treatment, prescribe substances, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. It is recommended that you see a licensed physician or licensed health care professional for any physical or psychological ailment you may have. While Reiki can complement any medical or psychological care you may be receiving, it does not replace it. Remember that long term imbalances in the body sometimes require multiple sessions in order to facilitate the level of relaxation needed by the body to heal itself.*
